TANGLAW UK (light) is in the register of Charities of England and Wales. LINGAP (Ligaya ng Alinmang Pilipino), founded by Filipino Migrant Workers over 3 decades ago with the aim to support the needs of Single Mothers living in the UK, held the registration number 1067399. With no young and dynamic recruits to take over the ageing founders and members, LINGAP lost its lustre whilst varying needs of the Filipino community continue to grow. The Charity Commission made changes to their requirements of who to keep in the register and in 2015 it decided to deregister LINGAP . On appeal, Trustees, whilst agreeing to not meeting the minimum amount of funds to operate, reasoned, why LINGAP should be allowed to exist one of which was being the voice of the community and if not one of the earliest charitable Filipino organisations in the UK, it was the first. The appeal was allowed. A couple of old members rejoined and a revamp commenced.

Meeting after meeting of the Trustees concluded with LINGAP needing a replacement name. Community consultation was launched to include the name it wanted to change into and in 2017 TANGLAW UK was adopted.

'A year ago I was in the verge of being homeless. I applied for Housing  to the council but  I was not successful.  I decided to go home to the Philippines when a friend told me about TANGLAW UK. At meetings with TANGLAW UK volunteers, my documents were reviewed and my application was relaunched. I now have a new home and new friends.  Thank you very much TANGLAW UK'
